We were hoping to take a walking
safari but the guide for those was in hospital recovering from malaria so….we
had another day in the park with Habib
and covered a lot of ground looking for the leopard….unfortunately they are
very good at hiding and we never did get to see one….the tse tse flies were
getting pretty tiresome so we gave up the search.
We saw lots of birds and Sean got
some wonderful photos to bring home for Linda who is an avid birder. I am not the photographer that Sean is but I
did get some nice shots.
I do love the Marabou stork....it is an ugly bird and proud of it! |
The lowly warthog....or as some unscrupulous safari guides tell you....a baby rhino! |
The rest of our time at Tandala
we spent relaxing and enjoying the elephants who came in daily to the watering
hole and almost always walked by our tents on their way. They often joined us for our pre dinner drinks and catch up for the
day. We were also treated to bats at
night – one in my tent that had to be dispatched by one of the Masai guards –
lots of birds and the animals, including the leopard , who came thru the camp
each night on their way to the watering hole.
Truly a wonderful experience for me.
After a week we were ready to begin the last leg of our journey home.
